Chapter 1 study guide: Welcome to the course

A Florida real estate course is one step toward a license, not the license itself. Chapter 1 introduces the route ahead: learn the material, test your understanding and complete the required school assessment. The state application, state examination and licensing requirements are separate parts of the process.

Three milestones to keep separate

What each milestone tells you
MilestoneWhat it meansWhat it does not mean
Chapter practiceYou are checking your understanding of a particular topic. You have not yet completed the entire course.
Course completionYou have met the school's completion requirements. You have not automatically passed the state examination.
Active licenseThe state licensing and activation requirements have been met.A school certificate alone does not create this status.

For the usual sales associate route, DBPR requires approved 63-hour pre-license education before the state exam. Its application checklist also explains that you can submit the application before completing the course. Do not confuse the order of your study with the order in which every application task must happen.

How to begin on 63Hours

Start with the short welcome lesson and Chapter 1 quiz. This first chapter lets you try the learning experience before committing time to the longer chapters. When you are ready to continue, register so your progress can be saved to your account.

The course has 20 chapters. Work through each chapter and pass its quiz to open the next part of the course. That sequence keeps you from jumping into later topics without the definitions they rely on. These public study guides are useful companions, but reading one does not mark the corresponding lessons or quiz as complete.

Use the quiz to find what needs another look

A useful study session ends with more than a score. For each missed question, ask which word or distinction caused the mistake. Did you confuse the school exam with the state exam? Did you recognize a term without understanding what it permits someone to do?

For example, imagine answering that a course certificate lets a student begin selling homes independently. The correction is not simply to memorize a different choice. The underlying lesson is that education, state licensure and the required brokerage relationship serve different purposes.

What is free, and when does payment apply?

63Hours provides free study access. Chapter 1 introduces a $175 certificate fee after passing the end-of-course exam; the current pricing page explains the charge and when it applies. This school fee should not be confused with separate state application, fingerprinting or examination costs. Check the responsible provider's current charges before budgeting.

Check your understanding

Question: You passed a chapter quiz. Have you passed the Florida state licensing examination?

Answer: no. A chapter quiz checks part of your course learning. The school assessment and state examination are separate milestones.

Try Chapter 1 practice questions, or start the free course. Keep the chapter study guides handy when you want a quick explanation of a topic.
