License Law And Commission Rules
Section 13 of 15
Reactivation Education. If you missed your renewal and your license went Involuntary Inactive, you have to do extra work to wake it up. The amount of work depends on how long it’s been asleep: Asleep for 12 months or less: You’re lucky. You just need to complete the standard 14-hour CE course and pay a late fee. Asleep for more than 12 months (but less than 24): You’re in trouble. The 14-hour course isn't enough. You must take the 28-hour Reactivation Course. Asleep for more than 24 months: The license is Null and Void. You usually have to start over from scratch (pre-license course + state exam).3. Hardship (The Exception). What if your license went Null and Void (passed the 2-year limit) but you had a really good reason? The FREC has the power to reinstate a Null and Void license if you can prove the failure to renew was due to illness or economic hardship. The Catch: You can't just say "I was busy." It has to be a significant life event that physically or financially prevented you from complying. You usually have a limited window (often 6 months from the date it went void) to apply for this reinstatement.
