A Broker can choose to operate under their own personal name (e.g., "John Smith") or a Trade Name (also called a Fictitious Name or D/B/A (Doing business As) If John Smith wants to operate as "Sunshine Realty," he must register that name with the Florida Department of State (Division of Corporations) and then register it with the DBPR. A broker can generally only use one trade name per license.
