Inside every Township square, there are 36 Sections.Size of a Section: 1 mile x 1 mile = 1 Square Mile.Acres in a Section: 640 Acres (Memorize this number!).The Snake Numbering System:The sections are numbered 1 through 36, but not like a book. They start in the Northeast corner (top right) and snake back and forth.Section 1 will always be on top right.Section 6 will always be on top left.Section 7 will always be on directly below Section 6.Section 36 will always be on bottom right.
