Replacement cost estimates a new improvement with equivalent usefulness using current materials and methods. Reproduction cost estimates a duplicate of the existing improvement. Those goals can produce different amounts, particularly for older or unusual buildings. The course makes the distinction before depreciation is considered, so do not treat both terms as interchangeable descriptions of cost new.
