Sales Associate applicants must satisfactorily complete a Commission-prescribed course, designated as Course 1, which consists of 63 hours. This is what you are currently completing. The course covers the fundamentals of real estate principles and practices, real estate law, and real estate mathematics.Broker applicants (who want to open their own firm) must satisfactorily complete a Commission-prescribed course designated as Course 2. This course consists of 72 hours. The course covers the fundamentals of real estate appraising, investment, financing, and brokerage management operations. The exam is administered by the school upon completion of the instruction. End-of-course exams are multiple-choice with 4 answer choices each. The sales associate exam has at least 100 items. The broker exam has at least 95 items. If you fail the end-of-course exam, you must wait at least 30 days before retesting. You may retest a maximum of one time within one year of the original exam. If you fail the retest, you must repeat the entire course before taking the exam again.
