The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in Florida. It is under the executive branch of the Governor. The Department is structured into several divisions to handle the diverse range of industries it oversees.1) Division of Professions. This division is responsible for licensing and regulating over 400,000 professionals across various occupations. It manages the licensing for professions other than real estate, such as architects, electrical contractors, cosmetologists, and veterinarians.Role: It provides administrative support to the various professional boards that oversee these specific industries.2) Division of Service Operations. This division acts as the central administrative hub for the entire Department. It handles the processing of applications and payments for all professions regulated by the DBPR.
