FLORIDA REAL ESTATE SALES ASSOCIATE COURSE
Law & Qualifications
Section 20 of 29
A nonresident of Florida may apply for a Florida real estate license under the same requirements as a resident (age, education, exam), but there are specific provisions for nonresidents. A nonresident applicant must meet the same education, experience, and examination requirements as a resident, unless they qualify for mutual recognition. Mutual Recognition: Florida has written agreements with certain states that have similar licensing requirements. If a nonresident applicant holds a valid license in a mutual recognition state, they may be exempt from the pre-license education course and the full state exam. Instead, they must pass a 40-question jurisprudence exam on Florida real estate law with a grade of 30 points (75%) or higher. This applies only to nonresidents. If a licensee from a mutual recognition state moves to Florida and becomes a resident, they must qualify under standard resident requirements. Residency Definition: For FREC purposes, a "resident" is someone who has resided in Florida continuously for or more within the preceding year. Change of Residency: A Florida resident licensee who moves out of state and becomes a nonresident must notify the FREC within 60 days of the change in residency.
