Planning, Zoning And Environmental Hazards

Section 32 of 34

Lead-based paint is a significant hazard in homes built before 1978. When the paint deteriorates or is disturbed during renovation, it creates dust that can be ingested or inhaled. This is particularly dangerous for young children, as lead poisoning can cause severe neurological damage and developmental delays. Federal law requires sellers of pre-1978 homes to disclose the presence of any known lead-based paint and provide buyers with a specific government pamphlet on the risks, along with a 10-day window to conduct an inspection.
