Types of mortgages
Section 47 of 72
Credit unions are nonprofit, member-owned financial cooperatives. Because they are not driven by profit for outside shareholders, they often return their surplus earnings to their members in the form of higher interest rates on savings and lower interest rates on loans. Credit unions offer a range of mortgage products, typically focusing on shorter-term residential loans, home equity loans, and rehabilitation loans for their members. They are often known for more personalized service and lower closing costs.
