FLORIDA REAL ESTATE SALES ASSOCIATE COURSE

Authorized Relationships, Duties, And Disclosure

Section 11 of 31

Nonrepresentation (No Brokerage Relationship) - In real estate, you don't always represent the person you are talking to. Sometimes, you are just helping them out without being "on their team." This status is called Nonrepresentation (or "No Brokerage Relationship"). Think of this like a salesperson at a department store. If you walk in to buy a shirt, the clerk will ring you up and be polite, but they aren't your personal stylist or your lawyer. They work for the store, not for you. In this scenario, you are a Customer, not a Client. Who is a Customer? A "Customer" is simply a member of the public who is looking to buy or sell property. They haven't hired you to represent them. They might be representing themselves, or they might just be unrepresented for now.Key Distinction: You work with a customer, but you do not work for them.
