An Evening on the Mountain

Time flies when you’re having fun. We are now halfway through a very bad (snow wise) ski season here in Switzerland and I’ve skied every day of every weekend since Christmas and a bunch of days before that in at least 8 different resorts. I still get to ride my bike at lower altitudes during the week but my main weekend focus is powder hunting…its just a shame the fluffy dry white stuff is in short supply in this part of the alps. My skis are definitely not amused by my hack style and frequent contact with rocks and stumps.

Making the most of the bad snow situation, yesterday we embarked upon a spot of night ski touring after work. Our destination was La Berra, a small, low altitude, local resort with a climb of around 650m of vertical and, at the top an awesome 360 degree view of the pre alps and the flat plains of Switzerland. The ascent exposed my “duck on ice” ski touring style but hopefully I managed to redeem myself with some half decent photographs of the view…
